Here’s our 2022 list of local Tree Lighting events as well as the best Christmas light shows taking place around Atlanta this year. Let us know if any of your favorites are missing – we are always looking for new events to add to the list each year.
Tree Lightings
Atlanta Festival of Lights at Atlantic Station: Feel the magic of the season with Atlantic Station’s light and snow show. The show is free and runs from 5 pm – 9 pm each evening November 20th through January 4th.
Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Garden: As always, Atlanta Botanical Garden’s holiday light show is a must see! Many of the show’s fan-favorite features will return this year, plus guests can expect new twists this holiday season. The show runs November 12th – January 14th. Remember, tickets often sell out, so book your tickets early!
Holiday Lights at Brook Run Park: Starting December 1st, Brook Run Park comes to life this season with over 85,000 lights, complete with a chocolate volcano, candy castle, ice cream land, and more!
IllumiNights at the Zoo: Stroll the Zoo after dark to be inspired by more than 80 animal lanterns – some up to 20 feet tall – depicting some of Earth’s most charismatic creatures. You don’t want to miss this one-of-a kind lightshow that will only be in Atlanta November 21st through January 15th.
Lights of Life at Life University: Not only is Life University’s light display a magical drive-through experience, but pony rides, train rides, concessions, and a petting zoo are available as well. Open nightly from Thanksgiving through December 31st with a fee of $10 per car.
Stone Mountain Christmas: Each night holiday magic fills Stone Mountain with festive music, millions of dazzling lights, spectacular shows and visits from some of your favorite holiday characters! Shows run select nights November 12th through January 1st.
World of Illumination at Six Flags White Water: This mile-long light show is open nightly November 16th through January 1st.
Neighborhood Light Displays: Atlanta is full of neighborhoods that go-big during the holiday season and offer free, family friendly entertainment. Click here for a detailed list of neighborhood displays.
Light the Station: Atlantic Station – November 19th, 2 pm – 9 pm. This FREE event will feature lots of holiday fun for kids, a book reading by Tiny Doors founder Karen Anderson Singer, live music, special performances, characters and more!
The Lighting of Avalon. Avalon – November 20th from 1 pm – 8 pm. From the annual opening of Avalon on Ice to the magnificent tree lighting, and an appearance from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself, there’s something exciting for all to enjoy.
Tree Lighting at the Battery: November 26th, activities start at 5:30 pm. Mark Owens & Blooper will help welcome Santa to The Battery Atlanta to light the tree at 7pm. Immediately following the tree lighting, The Grinch will be shown on the screen.
Holiday on the Town. Town Brookhaven – December 1st, 6 pm – 8:30 pm. A night full of festive fun! Enjoy a tree lighting, menorah lighting, live reindeer, holiday character meet and greet, performances and a visit with Santa!
Holiday Glow on the Town Green: Peachtree Corners – December 1st, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Peachtree Corners will be celebrating the holiday season by lighting a 6-foot Menorah and an innovative LED tree at the Town Green with the Holiday Glow! Event attendees can cozy up with complimentary hot chocolate while enjoying holiday sing-a-long. Plus, a very special guest from the North Pole will help the light up the Town Green.
Deck the Hall: Downtown Duluth – December 3rd 2 pm – 7 pm. This event features live entertainment, crafts for the kids, a real snow playground and snow slide, photo ops with Santa and holiday light installations.
