Ready to join in on the 2018 Olympic excitement? I’ve included all you need to know about February’s Winter Games below.
When: Opening Ceremonies take place Friday, February 9th and the Closing Ceremonies will be held on Sunday, February 25th.
Where: PyeongChang, South Korea, which is about 80 miles east of Seoul. This will be the second time South Korea has hosted the Olympic Games, the first being the 1988 Summer Games.
How to Watch: The games will broadcast online and on TV by NBC and their affiliates (NBCSN, CNBC, USA Network, NBCOlymplics.com and the NBC Sports App). Even though PyeongChang’s timezone is 14 hours ahead, NBC will broadcast events live, rather than on a delay.
What Events Will Take Place: Athletes will compete in seven sports (skiing, skating, luge, ice hockey, curling, bobsled, and biathlon) with a total of 15 different ‘disciplines’. In all, 102 medals will be given out over the course of the games with big air snowboarding, freestyle skiing, mass start speed skating, and mixed doubles curling included for the first time.
When Do the Events Take Place: The official schedule can be found here.
Who is Competing: 242 athletes will be representing the U.S. in the 2018 Games, with two athletes representing the state of Georgia in bobsled (Chris Kinney and Elana Meyers Taylor ). A full roster can be found here.
