Want to get your kids out of the house this winter without breaking your new 2020 budget? I’ve rounded up a list of free, in-store workshops and activities perfect for kids of all ages.

Lowes: Designed to inspire the next generation of builders, select Lowes locations offer monthly in-store DIY Kids’ Workshops. Find out when and where the next DIY Kids’ class will be held here.

Home Depot: Home Depot hosts children’s workshops on the first Saturday of each month from 9 am – 12 pm. Registration and a detailed description of the upcoming month’s craft can be found on the main Home Depot’s workshop website

Lakeshore Learning: The Lakeshore Learning Store in East Cobb offers free crafts for kids each and every Saturday from 11 am – 3 pm. Get a sneak peek of the month’s projects here.

Disney Store: Did you know Disney Store’s offer free “magical events” throughout the year? The events offered vary store-to-store, but you can find a list of upcoming celebrations here.

Little Shop of Stories: A visit to this Decatur book store is entertainment in itself! Not only do they have an excellent selection of children’s books, they also hold story and circle times throughout the week.

Barnes & Noble and Potter Barn Kids: Looking for more storytimes? Head to Barnes & Noble on Saturdays at 11 am and Pottery Barn Kids at 11 am on Tuesdays. Select stores of both franchises also offer additional events throughout the year.

Local Library: Don’t forget that your local library is an endless source of children’s activities and events. Just take a look at some of these county calendars to get an idea of all the opportunities: CobbDekalbGwinnettForsyth, and Fulton

Michaels: While this option isn’t free, it is very cost effective and therefore worth a mention. Kids Club at Michaels craft stores are held each Saturday morning from 10 am – noon. Price for participation runs between $2 – $5 per child, but that includes all craft supplies and instruction. Learn more about Kids Club here.
