Spring break is almost here, and if your family is staying close to home this year, you’re in luck! You don’t have to pack the car, book a hotel, or spend a fortune to keep everyone entertained. Metro Atlanta offers a variety of fun activities to get out of the house and enjoy the spring season.

From baby animals and blooming gardens to carnival rides and professional sports, here are some of my favorite ideas for filling those spring break days.

Get Outside and Enjoy Spring

Atlanta’s spring weather is pretty hard to beat, so why not start with some fresh air?

Strawberry picking is a classic spring activity, and many local farms should be opening their strawberry patches around the first week of April. Bring the kids, grab a basket, and prepare for the inevitable debate over who picked the biggest berry! Since opening dates and hours can vary with the weather, be sure to check with the farm before heading out.

Another great option is Zoo Atlanta. Spring is a wonderful time to visit, especially with plenty of animals becoming more active. And if you have animal-loving kids, seeing a new baby animal is always a bonus!

For even more color, head to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. April is prime time for spring blooms, with tulips, daffodils, crocuses, and hyacinths adding plenty of color throughout the gardens. It’s beautiful for the kids, but I’ll admit it’s also a pretty wonderful place for the adults!

Make It an Atlanta Adventure

If your family is eager to explore multiple attractions, consider the Atlanta CityPASS. This package includes admission to popular attractions like the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and Zoo Atlanta, along with the option to add other attractions such as the Fernbank Museum, the College Football Hall of Fame, or the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

For a unique experience, take a ride on SkyView Atlanta, an observation wheel that offers breathtaking views of Centennial Olympic Park. The wheel rises to an impressive height of nearly 20 stories, providing panoramic vistas of the city.

If you’re looking to burn off some spring break energy, activate Atlanta in Buckhead is a great choice. This interactive gaming experience combines physical activity with engaging challenges. Kids can jump, climb, run, and problem-solve their way through high-tech obstacles, all while you can enjoy watching them have fun and expend energy.

Atlanta is known for its unusual attractions, offering something for everyone.

The Balloon Museum is a colorful and quirky destination that features interactive installations with inflatable art. It’s a refreshing alternative to a traditional museum visit.

For those with an artistic inclination, Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is a captivating 360-degree digital exhibition inspired by the works of Vincent van Gogh. It’s a fun and thought-provoking experience for older kids, teens, and adults who appreciate art.

If your family is craving traditional carnival fun, the Town Center at Cobb Carnival in Kennesaw is the place to be. It offers a wide range of rides, games, and classic carnival food.

For a unique experience, head to Sugarloaf Mills and visit LuminoCity’s Dino Safari Festival. This festival features larger-than-life dinosaurs and captivating light-art displays. It’s a must-visit for families with budding paleontologists.

Spring break is also an excellent opportunity to catch some local sports. The Atlanta Hawks have a home game against the Detroit Pistons on April 3, while the Atlanta Gladiators are home for several games that week. Gladiators hockey can be a fun family outing, offering the excitement of professional sports without the need for a full day of activities.

Baseball season is in full swing, and the Atlanta Braves open their home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 5. The games continue through the weekend, and there’s something special about attending the first baseball games of the season at Truist Park.

Finally, don’t miss the Harlem Globetrotters’ performance at State Farm Arena on April 7. They bring their famous combination of basketball, comedy, and incredible athleticism to the stage.

So, if spring break finds you in Metro Atlanta, don’t worry about traveling far. Sometimes, the best vacations are the ones where you can relax and enjoy your own surroundings.

If you’re considering making North Atlanta your new home, give North Atlanta Home Group a call. We’d be delighted to help you find a neighborhood that offers a vibrant and exciting atmosphere with plenty of fun activities just around the corner.
