New Year’s Eve is often a holiday where families feel limited in their choices for celebration spots. Most venues cater to the adult crowds on this night, leaving families to celebrate at home. Thankfully, each year Atlanta is offering more and more ‘low-key’ events catered specifically to families. Here are my top 5 family New Year’s Eve celebrations taking place throughout the city – many of which are free!
Atlanta Falcons Game: If you’re a Falcons fans, this New Year’s Eve will be an extra special day as Atlanta hosts the Carolina Panther’s at 1 pm for their final game of the regular season. Tickets can be pricey (and hard to get a hold of), so hosting a football/New Year’s Eve party is a great way to celebrate this event with family and friends.
Medieval Times: The Lawrenceville Medieval Times location will have a New Year’s Eve show open to all ages – making it the perfect spot to celebrate the holiday with older kids. Packages include tours, dinner, music and dancing.
Marietta Square: Marietta Square offers two celebrations on December 31st – one at 6 p.m. for kids (ball drop at 7 p.m.) and another at midnight. A free event, activities and entertainment will take place from 6 pm to 1 am.
The Battery: From 5:30 pm to 8 pm, The Battery is hosting a FREE kids/family party which will feature music, giveaways, and performers. Plus, the ice rink will be open until 7 pm!
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: The traditional New Year’s bowl game is scheduled for 12:30 pm on January 1st at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. If tickets to the actual game aren’t in your budget, the Peach Bowl parade is a free event that still lets you be a part of the celebration. The parade starts at 8 am on January 1st, learn more about the route here.
