Summer is officially blueberry season in Georgia! Whether you're planning a fun family outing, looking for the freshest berries for baking, or simply wanting to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors, a visit to a local u-pick farm is a sweet way to celebrate the season. Below is a list of some of the best local blueberry farms in the area. Please remember to contact the farm directly before planning your day, as most do not hold consistent operating hours.
Mercier Orchards: Blue Ridge’s Mercier Orchards’ Farm plans to have u-pick blueberries and blackberries starting in mid June. Take in the beauty of the 300-acre farm with a tractor ride, and stop by the market for delicious food and treats.
Southern Belle Farms: A popular farm in the fall, Southern Belle Farms in McDonough is also a fun destination in the Summer! In addition to blueberries, the farm also offers blackberry and peach picking, as well as kid activities like pedal carts, train rides, slides, and jumping pillows.
Tuckaway Blueberry Farm: This family-owned farm in Loganville has more than 500 rabbit eye blueberry bushes.
DJ's U-Pick Berry Farm: Located in Lawrenceville, this family offers u-pick berries at $5 a pound! Keep in mind, they are cash or check only.
Hemi Blueberry Farm: This Greensboro farm offers six varieties of naturally grown blueberries. Picking is available by appointment only!
Remember to refrigerate your unwashed berries soon after picking and wash the berries just before eating. If refrigerated, fresh-picked blueberries will keep 10 to 14 days. If freezing, wash the berries and let them dry before putting them in a container to freeze. Did we miss your favorite blueberry farm? Share it in the comments below!
